Entering its 30th year, The Works Art and Design Festival begins today, June 19, with 63 exhibits and 33 venues in Edmonton’s downtown core and around the city.

With international tourists pouring in the city for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, organizers are expecting to draw bigger crowds this year, projecting over 350,000 visitors. The Works also has special programming for National Aboriginal Day on June 21, featuring local performers.

Karla Comanda completed her degree in Comparative Literature, with a minor in Creative Writing, at the University of Alberta.
