On June 16th, Donald Trump used Canadian icon Neil Young’s hit “Rockin’ in the Free World” for his presidential candidacy announcement without permission, and Neil wasn’t happy about it. He took to Facebook to write a statement.

“I do not trust self serving misinformation coming from corporations and their media trolls. I do not trust politicians who are taking millions from those corporations either. I trust people. So I make my music for people not for candidates.”

Neil says he doesn’t like the current political system in the USA, and if he were asked permission to use the song, he would’ve said no.
