The worlds of both music and film say goodbye to Christopher Lee—a man best known for his portrayals of iconic villains such as Lord of the Rings’ Saruman and Star Wars’ Count Dooku.

On top of being a fantastic villain, Christopher Lee also had fantastic pipes. Although an accomplished opera singer, his favourite genre was one of the furthest things from classical: heavy metal. He released multiple symphonic heavy metal albums, and even had Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi present him Metal Hammer’s Spirit of Metal award in 2010.

Christopher Lee truly was a badass in every sense of the word, and he will be missed.
